Service Overview
All non-LDS volunteers and LDS family history consultants and missionaries serving
at the center are called family history consultants. Throughout the year we have
from 100 to 130 consultants serving at any time.
Most consultants serve 4 or more four-hour shifts (2+ days). Consultants with special
computer maintenance, lesson development, programming, library, or indexing skills
may work on their own schedule or as agreed by the team they are working with.
All consultants receive an initial orientation and in-depth training during their
first month of service. This includes formal classroom training, homework, service
simulation training, and trainer guided experiences.
In-service training and is provided weekly, and help from experienced shift leaders,
trainers and consultants is always available.

Serving at the Center - Be a Family History Consultant
Part-time volunteers and missionaries are needed from the St. George area.
Serve while living at home. Not a member of the LDS Church?
Not a problem. Throughout the 3.500 family history centers world-wide,
nearly 50 percent of those that serve are not members of the LDS Church.
If you have good computer skills and an interest in genealogy and family
history, we would love to help you serve at the center.
Want to perfect your genealogy, family history, and computer skills?
There is no better way than to be trained to help others in their work.
Volunteer hours are flexible. Missionaries serve 16-32 hours per week
for 18 to 30 months.
